Robert, great pics If that SAS DC8-63 is SE-DBK then that was the very same aircraft that I had to load plan and do the loadsheet for to pass my SAS/Scanair load control examination at Stansted in the early 80s. You had to do your exam whilst the aircraft was on turnround……no pressure:confused: We used to see these 8s flying under Scanair flight Nos but carrying this SAS livery, although some were re-liveried in the similar “candy stripe” livery used by SAS in the mid to late 80s….different to mainline SAS in that it was mainly yellow markings with Scanair titles and a large yellow disk on the fin. TU134A LZ-TUK was occasionally seen thru STN on a Sunday, but I think I’m right in that it was usually a Govt aircraft…Happy days!:D

Iam pretty sure that the Merchantman did finish up with ABC, but didnt they operate out of EMA. I remember HS Dynamics o/hling the props etc for them at the timeIncidentally BA had a store of Vanguard propsbought from AC, which still had hours on them, the occasional prop then being sold off to ABC or EAS in Perpignan

Tone,
Thanks for that, I thought it operated for ABC alongside an Argosy and was based in Belfast.

All the best

Interesting line of biz over where T4 now is.

Is that a Fellowship next to the Gulfstream to the right of the 727?

F-28s were rare in this country in any era………..id anyone?

Also,I don`t remember the Beeline base being used too often for biz parking and yet there`s a line of three 125s by the original BEA hangars. Was there a special event on that day?

Superb – brings back a lot of memories. Do you have any photos of the Tridents lined up at Heathrow?? For some reason that is one memory of Heathrow that has always stuck with me!!

Robert,
Once again some brilliant nostalgic photos, love these type of shots. Didn’t that Merchantman end up flying for Air Bridge out of Belfast? Or maybe it is the cockpit section is on display at Bournemouth?

Keep on scanning!!!

All the best

Si
