The Pan Ams were at LHR, they used to have a number of B727s based in Europe, as did TWA. When Pan Am was taken over by United the B727s were repainted and rotated with a number of different ones appearing on routes out of the UK.
Almost..correct about the IGS (Internal German Service) 727 but that picture was Frankfurt from memory…. 😉 as was the ASA Dc8.. most of the rest of the jet airliners were Heathrow, Nigeria F28 was Amsterdam, the connie was at Toussou (spelling?), the Dc7 and Britannia in bits were,I think, Dublin (not sure as we did Dub cork and shannon on that day trip!)…

Who needs digital quality when you have classics like that to share! Beautiful. Where was the bulk of those photos taken at? More than anything, I’m curious about the Pan Ams and the other jumbos.

Fantastic stuff! I remember OE-INA coming to BHX on several occasions in the early to mid seventies. Most memorably lit up like a Christmas tree over Walsall as he tried to establish the localiser for 33.
Any more please?

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. What airline is behind the Pan Am 727?
It’s JAT (Jugoslovenski AeroTransport) known better in the west as Yugoslavian Airlines. See the 707 shot below for better detail. 🙂

Excellent! Those old shots have so much atmosphere (very sad 3rd shot though… Poor old plane!) What’s the story behind the Singapore Concorde? I wasn’t aware they flew for anyone other than BA and Air France.
Paul
BA formed a supersonic alliance with Singapore Airlines for a short while. G-BOAD had Singapore colours on the port side and BA red tail colours on the other.
Braniff engaged in a similar deal with BA and AF, offering Concorde flights from Dallas via New York and Washington??? to LHR and CDG. Despite many artists impressions, mock ups and models, the deal ended before a ‘one sided’ Braniff livery was ever applied to any Concordes. Although they did carry a strange dual registration for a while, G-N94AA being one that was applied to G-BOAA for example….

something along the lines of Singapore flew it in connection with BA. On the other side of that concorde was the old BA livery
