More St. Maarten

Hi Guys!

Haven’t posted anything in a while, but figured I would post some pictures from sunny St. Maarten, and update you guys on the airport.

I had to have a meeting with the Chief of Airport Operations the other day, and we talked about the future of the airport.

Luckily, Sunset Beach is not going to be touched. The extension they are making on the departure end of runway 09 is going to be a safety run off area, as well as enable them to shift the threshold 150m down the runway. This will enable the landing traffic to pass over the beach a bit higher than what is necessary today.

This scheme is set to disappear shortly, as they are repainting them all white, and the company is changing names and logos.

Well, they do call the caribbean Dash 8 heaven.

And here is my reason to meet the Chief of Airport Operations.

Some f*ckers cut a hole in the fence, poured gas over the helicopter and lit it on fire. Fortunately we always cover it up, and the cover, may it rest in peace, took most of the damage.
We still need to replace the roof and the windshields….
