I was watching a video of a C-130 with four underwing tanks and it dawned on me, why don’t big jets – like transports and tankers – use CFT’s? The long cylindrical underwing tanks are necessary for the long range missions we expect some of these planes to fly. The problem is that these underwing tanks add serious drag to the plane. There should be a way to attach a fuselage-hugging fuel tank to replace these underwing tanks. I could see this being important for expanding the legs of any auxillary aircraft.
