Moscow Chernoye, 11AUG

Yep, even more photos from my Russia holiday. This time the helicopter and An-2 maintenance fascility at Chernoye. Most of the helicopters and planes here were turned into paperweights a long time ago, but some of them might one day hit the sky again.

This is a more interesting plane then you’d think. It is the Ekranoplan conversion of the An-2. Unforunately the wings have been removed so it does not really show. Note the unusual (cyrillic) registration. Surely this one deserves a better fate then just rotting in a aviation junkyard. Moving it to Monino would be quite justified.

Correct, and looking like new as well, except for the main rotor blades missing. I would expect it to go to a museum somewhere.
