Admittedly the quality of these photos is not as good as those from the previous Moscow threads. This was all airside, and obviously the options for avoiding backlit situations are limited. You just have to make photos wherever the bus driver decides to drop you of.
I just hope the subject matter will negate that most are back-lit.
Undergoing maintenance.
Another one of these was in the hangar, but I could not make a photo of that one.
Still in use, while most of its sister ships (including the younger IL96) where stored.
This one was parked in a forest three days later.
Ex United airlines.

tenthije. Thank you for that explanation ! I have seen the use of the support at the tail when loading cargo ! but always as an addition to the aircraft ! not as a ‘built in’ extra ?

Also the first time I have seen the “bump stop” ??? back end undercarriage leg ??? on the IL62M ?? I know there is a man here who can enlighten me ??
Those are a standard feature. With all the engines in the back the IL62 is very tail-heavy. To prevent it flipping over it has the stand.
This stand is integral to the plane. During landing/take-off it is used to avoid tailstrikes, similar for instance to the skids used by Boeing, or the small tailwheel on the Saab Draken fighter. Once stationary the thing is extended for support.
You’ll find that a lot of cargo planes use stands as well. The IL-76 and CASA-235 for intance also have them build-in. Most of the times the stands are not build-in though. The cargo 747 has a mobile stand and any airport it frequents should have at least one.

tenthije. WoW what a supurb collection ! as someone has said it is sad to see them waiting to die ? but I assume as there were so many of them built that enough have been saved for the future generations ??

Thanks once again.

Fantastic, and some sad images. Seeing those 62s is enough to make you weep:(………..well it does me;) Again, great shots.

First shot is cast nice with the reflection and the rest are brilliant even though you say the backlighting may have affected them but it has’nt.There is always something mysterious about Russian aircraft even if they are old airliners,it must come from the cold war days and watching too many films like the”Ipcress Files”anyway thanks for showing them.:)

Here are the photos of the remote storage dump.
Anyone know why there is a fairing on the rear fuselage?
Same company but without the fairing.
