After giving up on Domodedovo on the Sunday morning due to being faced with a 2 mile mud bath to get to the perimeter fence we drove up to Sheremetyevo to try to salvage some of the day. After a 90 min “death race 2000” drive up the notorious ring road we arrived in one piece to find the weather a little better – cloudy but some clear patches. Stood between runways 25L and 25R near to the perimeter fence. As with Vnukovo absolutely no problems with the police whatsoever. A couple of police cars drove past and paid no attention to us at all. There were 4 or 5 Russian photographers stood underneath the flight path on 25R for some strange reason.
Here goes….

Worth the trip alone…

My first Sukhoi Superjet…

Then the sun came out for an hour, will share those later…

Only saw three TU-154s – all at Vnukovo. 2x Russian State (one in Rossiya colours, the plain ex Aeroflot) and a UTair in mostly blank scheme. The glory days have gone ! Didn’t visit any museums.

Nice shots! For the me Il-96 is the best. Did you also take a look at the technical university? When I was there last year only four planes where left (1x il-76, 2x il-86, 1x Tu-154), the rest had been scrapped. I wonder if they have anything left. Sheremetyevo’s gate guard il-18 was being moved (scrapped?) while I was there.
NO Tupelovs these days?
There’s a Vladivostok Tu-204 there. But the ‘154s are getting very rare at Sheremetyevo.

I like the silver and dark blue on the Aeroflot a/c.

Cheers Glen. Well lo and behold the sun made an appearance for 30 minutes. Lots of Aeroflot as to be expected…

That was the lot from Sheremetyevo. Thanks for looking.

Nice !! well worth the trip for this unusual stuff , Engine position on those russian jets looks so ungainly , almost at tipping point you would think . Great pics
