Spent four days in Moscow. Weather was truly atrocious nearly the whole time apart from a cloudy afternoon and 30 mins of sunshine at Sheremetyevo. Nearly gave up on Domodedovo after being forced back from the famous spots by a 2 mile mud bath. Managed a few shots there on the final day despite it chucking it down. Skies were heavy with black clouds the whole time and rained almost constantly.
First set are from Vnukovo – spend one day on mound on 01 aproach and another day in nearby petrol station grabbing shots from the hire car and retreating after every shot to dry the camera. If only it had been sunny as some of the traffic was superb. Anyway here goes…

Some old russian hardware….

Loved this Meridian TU-134…

More to follow…

Thanks ! Worse weather is yet to come at Domodedovo. Got another almighty soaking for the cause !
A week in sunny Antalya in June next year will hopefully make up it.

Being a casual visitor to this thread (I’m really a GA type), I have to say I admire your persistence in bringing this thread to us and introducing me to some types that I had never seen before. Much more interesting than yet another Spitfire at Duxford. Keep up the good work.

Very nice selection, and particularly surprised to see a UT Air ‘134 in there. I thought all commercial Tu-134s had been grounded by Putin, with ony a private and military jets still allowed to fly.
Also, WTH did you do to that Red Wings shot? 😉
Ha ha ! Erm I “mowed the lawn”. There was a horrible orange netting which ruined the frame so I removed it (in haste I must add).

A rainy morning by the fence. Took a few shots then had to give up as the weather was getting worse…managed a half decent ground shot of the Red Wings TU-204. The location we took this shot is only a few yards from where the Red Wings TU-204 overshot the runway at Christmas 2012…

A Yak-40 !

A couple of execs (not normally my bag but I shot them anyway)…

A few more…

A few UTair movements…

Yes this has probably been in Southend but it has also been in Manchester last year 🙂

Next up Sheremetyevo…

Great 2nd selection, the vile Putin doesn’t deserve such cool aircraft!

Nice selection. Some good schemes among the non Russian types too and great to see some Tu134s flying.
I see someone mentioned Tu135. Hmmm. Tu135 was a supersonic bomber project of the late 50s. Like some sort of Gerry Anderson concoction but it was never built.

Cheers folks. Look at this gear Putin brought in…..the first was the standard Rossiya flight I think but the rest were all government aircraft…this lot arrived in a short space of time. Pity the weather still was poor…

Quite a session !

You can’t beat Russian hardware, nice selection.

Very nice Culpano – excellently executed as always despite the tricky weather. Excellent to see some old Russian hardware in action too – Southend really can’t compete with that. However we did see VQ-BCK earlier this year!!! 😎

The Tu135 remarkably was only built in 2004
