The final part to my epic Leeming Photocall weekend was a trip across the Pennines on the Monday to visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester as I had not been there before. Unfortunately the upper balcony in the Air/Space Hall was closed although there was no mention of that on their web site, and still isn’t, and I had also e-mailed them to see if I could use my monopod inside the museum and I am still waiting for a reply. For an Air/Space Hall there are a lot of vehicles in there and the cast iron columns holding the roof up tend to get in the way of a good picture as well. Apart from that it was an interesting visit.

Apologies if this thread is too old to resurrect, but I wondered if anyone had more information on the developments at Mosi?
The Hunter and Sycamore were moved out and sent back to Cosford last week, quite how they got them out without moving everything else out I dont know, would have been interesting to watch.
Does anyone know what and if they are going to be replaced with there? There were big plans for the museum but it seems to have gone very quiet recently.
Hopefully Cosford might find room for the Hunter too, it was a nice display parts of the skin removed.

I love the hunter. One side complete the other allowing people to see how it works. Surley thats what museum exhibits are all about.
I am also hoping to visit soon. With the exhibition of human bodys there at the moment, should be a good day out.

Brian,
Small world! I was there the very next day!! I think you did very well in those cramped conditions and how you managed to shoot the Hunter is beyond me, as I gave up! A great shame the balcony was closed, but I think this is probably the start of the massive refurbishment programme following their lottery grant. The Air & Space Hall is going to be rebuilt as a state-of–the-art glass building, so hopefully we will soon see these aircraft is much better conditions. Meanwhile, here are two of mine that you didn’t include.
