I only picked up a few bits yesterday and have had a pleasant morning in the sun- searching for part numbers and inspector stamps.
I was told that they were from a mixed bag of Mosquito and P47 parts. The metal skinned late production Mosquito elevator section I had last year was from the same aircraft.
Can anyone confirm the designations of which aircraft and where they were sited on the relevant aircraft ?
Part1 – a tail edge piece in Dark Earth and Dark Green. Only stamp is on the inside – with what looks like DH scratchings? The numbers are barely legible.
Second piece with the large casting has a nice Republic stamp.
Third piece is stamped in several places with W3 22XX AND ISS ND BAT5 and a DHP inspectors stamp.

I should correct myself this part is not a casting it looks to be a very thick piece of aluminium (ca. 4mm) and has steel bolts at the bottom edge. The top has been cut off.. the outer edges have been turned over to form a flange for bolting to a lower surface. The inner edge is flanged but curved over.
Even though the numbers suggest a 504/Harrow –
I cannot see this piece being used in a a 504K.
The Harrow had an interesting but different structure:

fourth piece was a corroded aluminium casting.
Just cleaned this up and the part number is
5402874.
There are the remains of two inspectors stamps – circles with 49G .
So not Hornet, Mosquito, Thunderbolt or Auster.
Any suggestions – the parts list suggest Harrow or 504??

The first part has been cleaned around the numbers and I can see:
B5-14-240 JDZ
B5-14-242
248 in a circle
The Inspectors stamp looks like AUS with 248 below all in a circle.
Auster B5 (AO9)Starboard wing rear section – fillet between glass and wing?

Without opening up my P-47 Illustrated Parts Catalog, DSC_0014.jpg seems to be the intercooler doors from the side of the rear fuselage, those cutouts are the guides between open and closed.

Thanks Bruce – the numbers on the first part read as B5 – 14 – 247 ? then 112 and 247 ?

Yes, what David said!
First part isn’t Mosquito; appears postwar from the blue of the anchor nuts. Can you interpret any numbers on it?

Hi Brian,
This part number is from a de Havilland Hornet! On the wing to be specific.
“Third piece is stamped in several places with W3 22XX AND ISS ND BAT5 and a DHP inspectors stamp.”
Please could you e-mail me some photo’s. I’ll try to ID the exact location on the airframe.
I don’t suppose this would be available as-is???
Are the other parts from the same aircraft?
