If you can get in, it is in the Million Air hangar at Vancouver International Airport. As is the Spitfire.

DH82H

My error, I misread my list….somehow.
That aircraft is indeed in Vancouver.

VR796 doesn’t fly. It flew from Victoria to Vancouver in 2014, did the Abbotsford Airshow in 2015 and has not flown since. I believe it has a hangar mate in a Spitfire XIV (TZ138) also owned by Bob which also does not fly.

If anyone has seen either of Bob’s machines flying since 2015 I am very happy to be proven wrong.

John T.
Thanks for the cool link.

J Boyle.
I was referring to VR796 owned by Bob Jens. This Mosquito is Vancouver based.
The figures I quoted are approximate and serve to illustrate that the scale of distance is extremely large.
Hope that helps to clarify my point.

Here is a perspective on the Mosquito, from that same day, from the cockpit of the Bf-109E (flown by Bud Granley): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcmShZDx6z4&t

(If you go to Bud Granley’s Youtube account/uploads, he has all sorts of good stuff to watch, including flying the Bf-109E and Hurricane for some recent John Dibbs photo shoots.)

You’re a bit optimistic on the distances, by road Everett is about 400 miles from Calgary (home of VT796), and as you said, KA114 is across the continent in Virginia, about 3000 road miles.
Even at Mosquito speeds, that’s a sizeable distance.

Any idea who was flying?

Kevin Eldridge was one of the pilots, can’t remember who was alongside him, sorry!

TV959 and VR796 are based about 50 miles from each other.
KA114 is close to three thousand miles away.
As terrific a sight as a three ship might be, I think the likelihood is not so great.
We’d all like to see it though, on that we can certainly agree. 🙂

I hope the day comes when TV959 and VR796 meet up for an air to air two ship.

I want to see the 3-ship plus KA114….:eagerness:

When/if it happens it will be the first time 3 x Mossie’s would have been in formation together since the filming of Mosquito Squadron in 1967/8.

Never apologize for posting pictures!
If some folks don’t like them then, that sir, is their problem.

Much appreciated.
Must have been a terrific sight and sound for sure. I can practically hear the Merlins crackling and backfiring in protest at that landing shot.

How cool would that be?!

Thanks again.

I was fortunate to make my first visit to the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum as it is now called (FHCAM) a couple of weeks ago for their European Theater Day, which included a series of flypasts by TV959 in company with the collection’s 109E. The photos aren’t great because 1) I’m not very good 2) my lens isn’t very good 3) I was mostly straight into bright sunlight and 4) there’s a lot of black on that plane! Hope they’re of interest anyway. They both looked and sounded fantastic and I was thoroughly impressed with the collection, the demonstrations and the extra activities laid on for kids and adults alike. We even only had to pay the normal $14 admission charge, although I’m told that FHCAM event entrance fees may be higher next year. Well worth the trip!

Me too! I had to save the original photo from Facebook because it’s so pretty. I’m surprised as I don’t normally like night schemes.

TV959 is set to fly for the first time in the USA on Sunday at 1pm, and to make its first airshow appearance on 22 July:
