The Calgary Mosquito Society has won the bid to restore the Dehavilland Mosquito RS700. It will be transported to Nanton for restoration soon. The Hawker Hurricane will be shipped to Reynold’s Museum at Wetaskiwin for restoration as well. Finally the aircraft will receive some much needed repair and restoration and once more be able to stand on their wheels as a fitting tribute to all of those that gave the supreme sacrifice on these aircraft types during ww2.

Excellent news Peter.:D
This will insure that that both airframes are preserved and never leave Canada.
It will also open the door to Federal and Privincial funding .
An all round great decision that will allow the restoration to be done “inhouse” .
Hopefully the CMS can set up an apprenticeship program where young people can learn restoration and aircraft maint. skills as was done with the CWH Lancaster restoration.
