Mosquito Video Clip

Just got my site back up and running after server problems, I’ve uploaded a short clip of Mosquito RR299 at Fighter Meet 96 and the former OFMC Mig 15.

Fantastic footage – I couldn’t help but hear the 633 Squadron theme as she came barreling in left-to-right! πŸ™‚

That aircraft was something special, all right. Sad to say I only got to see her once in action.

thanks JDK, that was some interesting reading.
What I keep on seeing on these kinda accident report is sentences similar to this “The aircraft
was then observed to complete a number of uncontrolled manoeuvres before control appeared to
have been regained, but at too low height to prevent impact with the ground.” πŸ™

The AIB report on the accident is availabble as a PDF.

Just go to the AIB here and search by RR299.

Thanks Steve. A much missed performer and crew.

Thanks for posting that, would love to have seen a flying Mosquito, such a great aircraft. The other clips there are great too, esp of the 2 109s πŸ™‚

Steve – thanks for putting that video up. I can only echo the thoughts above – I last saw that aircraft on the Saturday of Legends ’96, and was horrified to hear of its demise a week later.

As I remember it, the pilot of that display wasn’t the one lost in the crash, however the engineer was.

Thanks for this clip. It gives a chance to mosquito fans to have an idea how this nice bird preformed at airshows.

Thanks Steve,

I watched that clip with mixed emotions, but many thanks for capturing and sharing the footage of RR299 in action.
