Mosquito W4088 Engine.

Hi,

I am trying to track down the whereabouts of a Merlin engine which was recovered from the crash site of Mosquito W4088 in Snowdonia.

The engine was recovered(with MOD permission) in the mid to late 90’s by Alan Lovelock from Stoke on Trent, however all attempts to trace Mr Lovelock have failed.

Does anyone know where the engine,or indeed Mr Lovelock are now?

Thanks,

Garry.

W4088

The gentlman is right!!! this Merlin now lives in the sunny climate of south somerset. Apparently this item has had a charmed life since its recovery, passing through several owners.
Its just a pity that its condtion had got so bad before being rescued.

Hi

This engine was last seen flying south down shepton mallet A37 south, on the fosse way to Southwood and ended up in someones garden with other prized relics.

She is a little broken but much cherished among the daffs n roses

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the info. I spoke to the guys at Supermarine Aero Engineering and they have no knowledge of the engine from W4088 or the whereabouts of Mr Lovelock, with whom they have no connection.

If anyone does hear of the engine from W4088 I would be happy to hear from them.

Thanks,

Garry.
