Most beautiful jet

In your opinion what is the most beautiful JET aircraft?

It can be a modern design or a much older design just as long as it is powered by a jet engine.

Hunter and VC10, but I’ve got a soft spot for the JP3, particularly in 1960s Training Command finish, which brings back happy memories of my early forays to Coltishall for the “At Home” days watching The Macaws, Linton Blades, Poachers, Red Pelicans………………Halcyon days never to be repeated.

Best looking jet

BAC 221…ie reconfigured Fairey Delta with Concorde style wings.

BTW I watched that French feature film with the adventures of the Mirage 2000 pilots,it was actually quite good, the special effects were awesome ,when they had in cockpit combat scenes my seat shook and my coffee spilled…….errr I should admit that I was in a Boeing777 over the Indian Ocean when we hit turbulence at just the right moment.

Fouga Magister?

I bet you drive a 2CV!

Hunter – the Spitfire of the jet age.

2CV? no chance.

What’s with all this Hunter and Buccaneer and Lightning love? Don’t get it at all

Now thats interesting, is that Civi one still flying in France???

one of the most forgotten cold war aircraft i know, why was this?. from what i can gather the Vautor was not a bad design, i suppose they are quite popular in France and maybe Isreal. probably they got overshadowed by the legendary Mirage deltas. i have always had a soft spot for the old Vautor though, a strange cross between a Yak-28 and a B-47 !!!!. how many variants did they make, i know they made a interceptor and bomber version, when was the last retired.. a few pics of this old classic would be great.. 😉

Hunter, VC10, predictable (and excellent) choices, but to be a little bit different, the Convair B58 Hustler.

A few that still strike me, the Douglas F5D Skylancer, Grumman F11F-1F “Super Tiger”, Rockwell B-1A, and Boeing 757-200.

the Lightning is gorgeous. to be honest there is not many aircraft i do not think is beautiful, the early bi-planes have there own sort of beauty, the 1930s, 40s aircraft design became elegant with the arrival of the monoplanes, then came the jets, sleek, gleaming, stylish.
even though aircraft design has changed so much during its history, aircraft still amaze and look beautiful.

Whilst I still think that the Hunter edges it, the Sea Vixen FAW1 has to be a contender – particularly when photographed in the air. Check out the attached – an excellent early De Havilland photo of XJ488.

Regards,

Mark 🙂

Stunning photo’s, Hunter porn 😮 , For me the Hunter is the most Beautiful jet ever, But would have to say Concorde and the Vulcan come pretty close too, All are icons of the Jet age.

My choice would be the Fouga Magister, so sleek, and the V-tail just sets it off beautifully.

I’ve always loved the Me262, never liked any of the English jets, sorry guys.

Not that jets are really my thing anyway 🙂
