Most Generous Airshow ?

Towards the end of the nineties I was working for Marshall of Cambridge, the company had an airshow to celebrate an anniversary during this time and I’ve often wondered if there have been other company days / airshows were the company has been quite so generous? Why so generous you ask? Well entry to all workers and there famillies was free, all food and drink was free including sweets and freshly baked bread, in fact everything! The only thing you had to pay for was the raffle tickets that were being sold, and the prize? A flight in a 2 seat Spitfire to be taken that afternoon! Anyone know of a better one?

Mike J, The Comet was definitely there and in the display. May be I missed the ground loop! A good look at the DH Collection in the old WW2 flight shed was another memory. The DH family log books etc. Hope they are safe somewhere.

I went to the last B Ae Hatfield open day in 1989. I believe the workers and families got in free and us ‘outsiders’ paid (a fiver?) a donation to local charities. A wonderful display and tour of the 146 production line. It seemed very generous to me, certainly memorable.
