Over to you. 🙂

I was flying to New Delhi and lost my connection in FRA (thanks Spanair). I had an eco ticket (the cheapest I found).
The LH ticket agent wasn’t very nice but she was very efficient and in five minutes had me rebooked via CPH (otherwise I would have to wait until the next day).
I had to wait something like four hours at FRA for my flight to CPH and although I don’t like the airport, it was motorshow time (my other passion) and a lot of cars were exposed in the airport.
But then I discovered CPH and what a wonderful airport this is.
I had to wait six hours there but they were pure delight.
Sorry, I come to the flight, I was in first in a SAS 767 and this was so enjoyable.
Saldy they’ve stopped flying to New Delhi wonder why as it is always impossible to find tickets cause I would have loved to fly with their 330 and 340 there even in eco.
Sorry for being so long but bare me a few more lines. Last year my wife was flying to Mexico with a non-rev ticket with LH.
In FRA she told the boarding staff that it was her birthday with her being so lucky that just at that moment the Captain was passing by. He ordered them to put her in first and during the flight he went out of the cockpit to offer her a bottle of Champagne.
I am so jealous.
For the return she had to wait three days to find place but then she flew in business which is not so bad for a 100 euros (MAD-FRA-MEX return ticket).

My most memorable flight was probably my first wide-bodied experience which was a UAL 777 flight from LHR to LAX. It was the first time I’d seen a PTV and experienced decent scheduled service.
My next flight was my first 747 experience, again UA and again memorable.
And finally, I’ve got my first turbo-prop experience. I was petrified. It was dark, sub zero and I was flying out of Stockholm Arlanda to a remote Swedish airport. I’m sure I was on a Saab. The apprehension was the memorable element because the flight itself was pleasantly smooth and non-eventful.
Whoops, sorry, one more – my worst flight which was on a Monarch 757 out of Gerona, taking off in bad weather after some serious T-storm activity. This was the only time I ever thought I was actually gonna throw-up on a plane. I remember the pilot describing the take-off as potentially ‘lumpy’. Not a pleasant ride thats for sure!

Not strictly for this forum ,Nimrod MR2and a simulated attack on a Russian spy trawler during a maritime ex in the Atlantic 100ft bomb bay open floor vibrating like a washing machine on heat followed by vertical climb, left wingover, exit stage left sharpish. It also made the flypast after at Pembroke Docks seem almost pedestrian, aaah the life of a Space Cadet was sometimes good.

5 November 1979 – G-AVBW Bac111 Laker Airways – day trip LGW – Alicante on the flight deck. 2 landings & 2 take off in the jumpseat – wonderful. NB – Bac111 still noisy even up front!
August 1998 – N123KL B747-300 Singapore AL. flight from Singapore to Osaka Kansai – up on the flight deck during the overnight flight – captain invites me to stay up for landing. At top of descent i was woken up by a crew member and escorted to the flight deck where I had some great view’s of Kansai which had only just opened.
Air New Zealand 767 from Taipei to Auckland. On the flight deck when a smoke alarm went off – a passenger had been smoking in the toilet and was caught – opps.
Laker Airways A300 G-BIMC – LGW-PMA – was allowed to stay on the flight deckfor landing.

RE: Most Memorable flight?
Well, I dont think I can match that lot for a memorable flight , and BHOY I aint never been in a jump seat so that makes two of us.
My memorable flight was my first ever (well, my second as it was on the return flight) . It was in July 1973 , we took off from Rimini airport at 4.30 am in a Court Airline Tristar, about an hour later we were heading northwest across the Alps just as the sun was rising, wow! what a sight that was with the mountains silhouetted against the eastern sky, itself an increasing bow of light , absolutely breathtaking. Im sure the Capt. had to make some adjustments in the flight as it seemed that everyone on board had moved to the starboard side of the aircraft to see the sun rise

RE: Most Memorable flight?
I have two. Both with Airtours. But don’t worry, I wont be slagging them off, as i usually do. 😛
1999: My first ever time of going up on the flightdeck, in an A320. The pilot and co pilot were endulging a friendly game of cards, whilst the auto pilot was doing the rest. The pilot pointed out a few things to me, a thunderstorm, and our destination, LGW.
2000: Coming back from Gerona, in a terrible thunderstorm — first experiance of being in one too! Very scary! 🙁

RE: Most Memorable flight?
Booked on the inaugural flight from Munich to Copenhagen on a BAe 146 with the now defunct Debonair, we were all requested by the PA to report at the Debonair counter in the Departures Hall – after having checked in! Customs/Security wouldn’t let us out the way we had gotten in but gave us directions to another exit, this resulting in a group of us being trapped between two one-way doors and having to pound the glass panes until Security “rescued” us. Anyway, the aircraft had technical problems but we would be put on an SAS flight, the Debonair employee told us while merrily amending the tickets in hand-writing. Further delays occurred at the SAS counter where they understandably were not accepting tickets amended in hand-writing. Meanwhile, no notice was forwarded to Copenhagen, where people waiting for the Debonair passengers were biting their nails down to their elbows thinking that the plane had crashed. Going back, we were relieved to see a Debonair aircraft actually waiting at the gate, even more so wehen were allowed on board, only to have spirits dampened by a cheerful announcement to the effect that the flight would be slightly longer than expected as we would have to pop by Mönchengladbach to pick up some other Debonair passengers marooned there with an u/s aircraft. Now, Mönchengladbach’s runway is raather short and I was thrilled to experience the BAe 146’s short landing and take off capabilities, but it was evidently not to everybody’s liking. The sight of a lone mechanic with a clapped-out van and a DIY shop aluminium ladder with his torso buried in the innards of the culprit engine on the other BAe 146 parked on the apron (which was now full) did also not give cause for much enthusiasm among my fellow passengers. As the icing on the cake, our luggage could be reclaimed in a completely different terminal back in Munich. I never flew with them again.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-02-03 AT 06:30 PM (GMT)]My most memorable flight has to be (again) in the jumpseat of Aer Arran Express ATR42 (EI-CVR) from Dublin to Galway and back in September 2002. A friend of mine was the Captain and gave me a very thorough talk-through of the cockpit. A very interesting landing and take-off in Galway – the runway is hardly there!!! I’ve seen longer driveways! :+
Another very memorable flight was, erm, no, sorry – I’ve forgotten it!!

RE: Most Memorable flight?
am I the only person in the forum that hasn’t been in a jumpseat? :S
Only been on the flightdeck once, 12 years ago (24/12/90), on a BA BAe1-11 (G-AXJK), en route ZRH-BHX (BA5403).

RE: Most Memorable flight?
9W flight Delhi-Mumbai, the whole flight on jumpseat.
and a few more jumpseat flights with 9W and IC.
But till now for me one flight stands out of all…..Druk Air flight from Delhi to Thimpu(Bhutan) on a BAe 146. The flight was breathtaken. The pilot came and sat with us for more than half the flight. Then he actualy took 2 rounds of Mt. Everest so that the only 7 passengers on board get a good view and sitting on jumpseat while landing in Thimpu….and believe me…..there is no more photogenic airport than this one…and also one of the toughest to land into. The airports name is Paro…..and in this pic u see the house in forground…thats when the pilot makes a really steep decent in order to land. Druk Air is a very small airline with just 2 BAe 146. I have some pics of the airport and the a/c when i visited back in 1994 i think…i’ll post them soon.

RE: Most Memorable flight?
Flight NZ001 from LHR-LAX on 27th April 1997. I went up onto the flight deck for the first time on any airliner – what a superb experience (the aircraft was a 747-400).
Flight SN2177 from Brussels to Manchester on 13th September 2001 – my last ever flight on sabena.
Flight SN2174 from Manchester to Brussels on 6th July 2000 – my first ever flight with Sabena.
Sloeber. Simply sensational.
