The schedule is-Upavon

Shawbury
Derby (overnight)
Sun Hucknall
Leicester (finish)
Does anyone know how far they have got, or how the weather has affected the schedule?

Erm, right, red Chippies. Two of ’em, G-BCSL, and WP903. ‘SL is based up in the merseyside area, but where does WP903 come from? Reason I’m asking, is I saw an all red Chippie flying over our house a few weeks back, and as ‘SL is a bit far away, I doubt it was her…
WP903 is based at Henlow and is available for hire.

NavEx – the cream teas were fabulous, they insisted I have at least 3 as everyone else at Sealand seemed to have eaten that many.
I felt sorry for the guys with the fuel bowser as they rushed up all expectant that at last they could perform some refuelling only to be told that we were ok! With a look of utter dispair they turned and slowly walked back to the bowser.
Any sign of the pics from BCSL chaps, you did have my good side.

BCSL is owned by 20 ish pilots so is quite popular. Formerly of Barton now based Scouseport.

Hope you enjoyed all those cream teas…….we had to make do with a sandwich and doughnut run to Yeovil Morrisons

What an attractive Chipmunk that silver one is, flown superbly I heard! Not sure why that red one keeps appearing all the time!
Anyway – the Chipmunk duo – stars of the NW end of the Moth Rally.
ps I did my best to eat thru all the spare food!

Considering the weather, it is amazing that so many airfields planned, were visited…a few views of NW section…with ALL aircraft at Sealand 😉

You must stop chiming in after Janie all the time. People are beginning to talk… 😉 😀

Moth Tour
The tour was reduced quite a bit by the weather but we assembled 40 aircraft at Yeovil on the Friday night. One aircraft managed WW-Upavon-Dunkeswell-Shobdon-Chetwynd-Derby-Hucknall-Leicester, missing only 2 of the planned stops. Sealand unfortunately only had 2 visitors, Dunkeswell had none. By the time we dispersed at Leicester about 20 aircraft had made it there, some around the route, others like the Rapide after being hosted by the Army at Upavon for 2 nights.
A soggy weekend but some good flying, especially formation through the Peak district down the lakes…………….

“Naughty, but nice”. I very distinctively remember telling you it was a PRXI.
You were not the only one at Leicester on Sunday with people walking in front of their turning prop. I was there from 5pm to 7.30pm. Looks like I just missed you.
Quick plug for Leicester: Excellent staff, excellent firemen, excellent reception, very clean toilets, superb bar, viewing area, organisation and, or course, managment.
Are you ever at home??!! Not saying you get around, but………..!!

That Janie is a very naughtly lady! 😮

Sorry to any who turned out, particularly on Saturday and didn’t see aeroplanes. I was ‘back-seating’ in G-AIYS and I can tell you that it was good common sense that kept a lot of aeroplanes from completing the route!
I think we were the last out of White Waltham on Friday, to scrape into Upavon just before the storms which washed out Glastonbury. Not long after we got to Yeovil the visibility clamped on Friday evening and it didn’t lift above minima till 4 the next afternoon!
After that we decided to head back East rather than North, groping our way back through the murk to White Waltham, after the clag stopped us even getting over the Chilterns. Of course come Sunday, the sun came out just as we were pushing the aircraft back into the hangar at Henlow.
B….y typical!
(Nice flying though Val !)

PR14? this a new one to me! PRXI I think you mean 😉
By: BlueRobin - 27th June 2005 at 09:46
Ah yes many a fine Moth arrived whilst I was bashing the circuit in the Maule at Leicester yesterday. Even Teichmann turned up later in the the PR14 Spitfire gaining adulation from the throng massed about his aeroplane (he might have even stroked his moustache but I didn’t see) 😉
One small safety tip for you chaps. Don’t take this a a whinge it’s just good common safety sense. If you’re walking past and in front of a parked aircraft with someone in the cockpit and the engine isn’t running, chances are I’m trying to start the engine. Keep further back from the metal spinny thing at the front – it hurts and I don’t want to hurt anyone accidentally.

I wasn’t expecting to be around today so didn’t plan anything. I wish now I’d gone down to Hucknall.
By: Moondance - 26th June 2005 at 12:45
A few made it through the murk to Derby…departing for Hucknall on Sunday morning. The Dragon didn’t nightstop, but made a fine flypast.
