As I mentioned on another forum there was a very similar cloud formation looking North from the crowd line at RIAT around 1030 last Sunday. It stretched for miles and looked as though it was coming off the Welsh mountains. Talking to a former glider instructor, he told me he was teaching stalls below one of these waves but even with full down elevator they were going up at 1500 fpm….in a glider!. Powerful stuff.
