I frequently read the comings and goings at various UK airports on this forum. I was at YYZ yesterday and thought I would let you know what I saw, I thought it might be interesting. Sorry, don’t have a carmera – broke comedian (not that that’s an indication that I suck–just the nature of the biz starting out), so I can’t show you snaps.
At YYZ one can go on top of Terminal One and see the entire tarmac, although, with the construction of the new super terminal it will take out one and two, leaving only the new terminal and terminal three.

Thanks for that information. I suppose that is the reason why the Skyservice A320s can be seen with the UK charters in the summer months. Actually I thought the Star Airways/ Air Transat deal was quite good where there was an exchange of aircraft between the two carriers during seperate periods as they both have different market needs at different periods so the exchange of aircraft helped see no aircraft going to waste and also generating extra revenue.

The charter market used to be bigger in Toronto, but post 9/11 and the loss of Canada 3000, not to mention fierce competition from AC it has become smaller. Typically it’s Europe in the summer with Mexico, Florida, Nevada and the Carribean (spelling, sorry) in the winter months. We also have Skyservice which has a number of A320/330 flying out of TO. However, if you lived in Vancouver for instance you would visit more mexico, California, Hawaii and Nevada.
We do have a new charter domestic HMY Airways using 757. Forget what the HMY means, something completely stupid.
not sure about the last question.

How big is the charter market to Toronto? Air Transat seems to be out again in force to Europe again this year, are there a varied amount of destinations?
By the way, a random question but do SATA still operate the A310 from Ponta Delgada to Toronto?

Didn’t see the Stones plane yet, though it’s a 747. Will try to get out there this week.
AC is the only non-stop to India.
I can’t remember is PIA goes through Manchester or Birmingham. I could see them filling a 777 if they unload some in the UK. The UK is the largest destination from Canada after the US. Apparently PIA is thinking of continuing the YYZ flight into the States.
Currently to the UK from YYZ that I can remember:
AC 5 flights LHR
AC 1 GLA
BA 3 LHR
My Travel 2-3 (Depending on day) Manchester
Air Transat (not sure, though I think 2) Gatwick
EAL pulled out of their summer routings.
I think that’s right.

I thought the AC 340 flight recently launched (Delhi? I can’t remember the destination) was the only flight from North America to the subcontinent?
Or was that the only non-stop flight?
The A310 flight routes via BHX (I think)… can’t see that the demand is there for a full 777, though.

By the way, will PIA use there new 777’s into toronto?

Yeah, it was like 36 degrees with the humidity, really sunny. I have to borrow my friend’s digital camera, there were some amazing shots from that vantage point. It’s really like being in a control tower. In fact, the new ground control tower will be right behind this location.
