MP 'Expenses' – again!

House Rules? its theft or fraud and they are criminal offences, not “House Rules”!

In the twisted logic of politicians, the only thing he did wrong was getting caught, “house rules” makes it sound on the level of getting back in after lights out, not fiddling £thousands all for personal gain.

Love the way this “honourable gentleman” wishes to apologize and take responsibility for his mistakes, some mistake, when it appears that he created the invoices, signed the cheques and banked the money.

Couple of observations, does resigned, let him walk away with pensions etc, just as all those who decided not to stand at the last election did and thereby saved their scrawny necks and ill gotten gains.

Amazingly many of those caught, seem to have the readies to hand to pay back their “mistakes”, obviously lack of finances was not a reason for the theft.

According to the BBC.

It suggested of the £12,900 claimed through false invoices, it was likely around £7,500 was “outside the rules”, although Mr MacShane has apologised and repaid the entire £12,900.

Surely, a guilty verdict would have him repay any amount owed plus court expenses. I don’t see why because it’s “only” £7,500 should prevent him having his day in court.

While in no way condoning his actions, what will it cost to re-open a case and prosecute for £7500 in expenses? If it costs more than £7500 then I would suggest that losing his job and his career may be punishment enough.

On my link its still says that … “Former Labour minister Denis MacShane is facing suspension from the Commons for 12 months” – so what’s taking so long for him to get the push??? :confused:

Yes, I did read the article, what I was stating is what I would have liked to have seen done..

He’s been suspended from parliament, suspended by the Labour party, so there may be a by-election either way, he loses his job.
The criminal investigation was dropped in July. Amazing what you learn by simply reading the article.

Had that been you or I, then the Police would have arrested us for Fraud.
As usual, one rule for them, and another for us.
SACK HIM, or get him arrested.charged, and a custodial sentance applied, or better still. a bright orange vest, a broom, and let him sweep outside the pavements of Westminster doing community service.:D
Can anyone tell me why they are called “My right honourable friend” in Westminister, as they seem anything else BUT.
