Mr Allen….

Hello!

A quick look on the web this morning produced the following from Paul Allen’s museum in the US:

Future Restoration Projects
Casa 2.111D (Heinkel He 111H)
Nakajima Ki-43-1b “Hayabusa”
Grumman F6F-5 “Hellcat”
North American F-86A “Sabre”
Mitsubishi A6M5-52 “Zero-Sen”
Yakovlev Yak-3U
Republic F-105G “Thunderchief”
Vought F-8 “Crusader”
Mikoyan and Gurevich MiG-21 “Mongol”
BAE/Hawker GR-3 “Harrier”
DeHavilland DH98 “Mosquito”
Me 163B “Komet”

Do we know if any of these are set to take to the air?

Thanks

APC104 🙂

APC – The Mosquito wing repair was quoted on years ago. The dificulty in carrying it out is simple – open cheque book write large cheque and it can be done!

when i was in Seattle I wasnt able to visit Paul Allen’s collection because it was closed to public with no date set. The rumors I heard in the Museum of Flight restoration hangars is there are some troubles between the associates, but once again it’s just a rumor, so dont take it for granted 😉

“Mosquito- get the wing repair done and yes.”

As I see it, money is not an issue for this man, so what constrainsts does he face in terms of getting thing into the air?

Not enough people out there with the skills to do the job properly?
Not enough original components?

For him, purchasing orginal airframes must be like me buying the latest corgi release.. but more fun! Keep it up Mr Allen!

I think you will find that he has two Casa built 1-11’s . One is ex Jean Salis.

It would be nice to see the F-105 fly…well we can dream! 🙂

After all if a Vulcan can fly in the UK (maybe)…it should be simple to get a SE fighter-bomber in the air. If Collings can do it with a Phantom, just think of what one of the world’s richest men could do…
