MS.317 G-MOSA, The other Sywell Star

Another LAA Rally visitor was the recently completed rebuild of Morane Saulnier MS.317 G-MOSA. A 4 year project, the aircraft is finished in spectacular French Navy colours. The strut arrangement rivals the Storch for complexity.

I believe it was never military as a MS 317 from what I gathered on the french aviation register. May be when it was a MS 315… It was with AERO CLUB DE LA STE NATIONALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS AERONAUTIQUES (Aero-club of the SNCASE) in 1952. As you can see, it was fitted with a hoof to tow gliders (which was why the MS 315 wrere re-engined) in the early 50s.

G-MOSA had spent some time as N351MS, but was F-BCNU after leaving French military service. Seen here at La Ferte Alais 21-5-88:

Thread drift alert

Did anyone get pictures / video of my friend’s apparently quite spectacular double ground loop in his Jodel at the LAA rally?

A job well done! I am surprised they managed to get it ready within 4 years only.
