Evening all
Please, anyone could helps with the situation of the slope in the Mt. Brandon (Dingle Peninsula, Ireland), where crashed two Sunderlands and a Wellington during WWII?. It´s seems the slope is above Slieveglass.
Some remains of G-AGES Sunderland are on display in the Flying Boat Museum, Foynes. (Attached pic below)
Near of “pilgrims path”, going up to the Brandon summit, crashed a Condor too. I have located a pics of the remains on this webpage:
http://www.keme.co.uk/~stowupland/carrantuohill/brandon.htm
Have information that them were removed years ago and go back to Germany.
Here you can see an aircrafts crashes list in this area (also a Catalina crashed on a mountain near Brandon Mt.):
http://homepage.eircom.net/~wrgi/tableker.html
Attached two Google Earth images where I have marked with red points the Condor´s crashsite (aprox) and the Brandon summit (blue point). I think the Slieveglass slope could be in the area of the second image.
I suppose farmers and locals can help a lot, but may be someone here knows the crashsites ;-). Thanksss ¡¡
Regards
Michel

Michel, you are welcome. The three items in Dave’s pictures are no longer in those locations. The engine is at O’Connors in Cloghane the wing piece is ( or was ) down in the valley on one of my trips there. If you should get to O’Connors and meet Sean O’Dowd tell him I said HELLO and that we want the Sam Maguire back (He will know what I mean )
Enjoy your trip
