Magnificent aeroplane the Proctor, just not enough of them still about! One late summer’s evening, just as the airfield was about to close a silver Proctor 5 charged into the circuit intent on landing and proceeded to bounce, probably five or six times, all the way along the length of Shoreham’s grass runway 21 before finally coming to a stop.
The next time I came across G-AHBH was in the hangar at its Thruxton base, when it was being resprayed in a garish multi-coloured paint scheme. I think I saw it one last time before it was written off in an accident at Jersey on 4/8/65, when from memory it turned up briiefly in those colours at one of the W S Shackleton & Co’s sales weekends at Sywell.
Is there any remote chance that anyone else still remembers this aircraft and best of all can come up with a shot of it in its final off the wall colours?
