Munich Airport

Ive booked up a flight with easyjet for me and my mate to go to Munich in October.
Does anyone on here know of a reasonably cheap hotel near the airport, otherwise it means going into the city itself.
And has anyone been there spotting recently? if so, whats it like?

The hill in the visitor’s park is not that close to the (northern) runway but gives a good view of the western ramp. Best vantage points are around the perimeter fence. The terrace in Terminal 2 is glazed, so probably not ideal for photography. A local spotter’s club has excellent info about Munich Airport and associated traffic at www.afm-news.de

Dave,

I am going there this weekend! – (staying in the Kempinski at the airport)

My last visit there was in 1994 and the facilities were good. There is a purpose built spotting hill close to one of the runways which has its own S-Bahn station. The hill gives good views but is in the open and so if the weather is bad then is not a good idea. Also at the hill there are 3 preserved aircraft (Ju52/DC3/L1049) and ramp tours are available. There is also a viewing area in the recently opened Terminal 2 which will
be investigated. The airport does have its own website which is a good source of info.

hope this is of use
