I have just finished reading a fascinating book by Diana Barnato-Walker called Spreading My Wings. It is about her service with the ATA during WW2. She delivered nearly every type of aircraft used, bombers and fighters with no radios or nav aids. A reccommended read.
She tells of the tragic accident involving her husband. He was a Wing Commander who began flying before the war and survived the whole war serving in Greece and North Africa amongst others. Shortly after the war he flew down to Hendon in a Mustang to discuss a job with Fairey. Unfortunately the Mustang crashed in the curcuit apparently due to an engine problem. It is all pretty much built up round there so I guess it would probably have been into a house. Does any one know where?

P-51D KM232 Digby Station Flight ex 442 Squadron crashed in the circuit at Hendon at 14.30 on 14th November 1945,as he was preparing to land. There is a poem to her husband by Diana Walker in “Out of The Blue” by Laddie Lucas. The aircraft was used by No1 OATS Officers Advanced Training School at Digby and was left over when the Canadians left Digby in July 1945.
I cannot help with the location but the RAF Museum archives could. Also a Anson C.19 i believe crashed onto a house on the Hendon boundary in the fifties
