Mustang 'Janie' flies again.

The much missed ‘Janie’ of Maurice Hammond, badly damaged in a serious crash in 2016, has flown again.

Nigel Hitchman posted as follows on facebook today.-

”Great to see the first flight post extensive restoration by Air Leasing at Sywell of G-CLNV North American P51D today 25 Aug 2023. Flown by Pete Kynsey, he did 3 flights including the CAA air test. This is the former NZ2427 restored by Maurice Hammond as “Janie” between 97-2001 which crashed in 2016. Paperwork permitting it will be delivered to its owner at La Ferte Alais late next week. Look forward to seeing it in France and back in the UK at airshows next year.”

”That ship has sailed, guys. Key Aero has made its bed … unfortunately, we’re the ones who have to lie in it, and it’s lumpy … with some questionable stains in places … and what the heck is that smell ?????””

Be sure to check for bedbugs as well ;-P..

Good news. Surely the exhibition will be extremely crowded. You need to save information to use when needed.

This is good news for air show enthusiasts. I’m looking forward to the first day when it opens for exhibitions.

That’s good news ,  i hope Mr Hammond has recovered ok . I thought after the accident the aircraft was cut up unsympathetically making preservation difficult.
