Attending fireman has confirmed Mustang pilot bailed out and is ok. Was on the way to hospital for routine check up. Aircraft came down in a crop field about 300 yds away from and at the western end of Grange Rd, well away from people and property.

To confirm the above, apparently the P-51 was “Big Beautiful Doll”. Collision with French Skyraider which landed safely. P-51 pilot reported (thankfully) OK.
Michael Carlsson’s Fokker DR-1 replica was apparently damaged on landing earlier, after hitting propwash from an aircraft being run-up ‘on the line’. A bad day, but it could have been a lot worse.

Just to clear up – according to the above it was Big Beautiful Doll and the French Skyraider that was involved in the collision. Very pleased to hear that the pilots are safe.

The identity has been revealed elsewhere of the Mustang, but it matters not. Glad to hear the pilot baled out, and the Skyraider could be landed safely.

Comentator said pilot of Mustang is ok. At least 4′ of the Skyraider wing is missing but he completed a circuit and landed without incident.

Heard Skyraider landed 4ft of wing missing Mustang crashe doff filed pilot bailed out safely but was at low level, Was also told what Mustang it was but will not post it for obvious reasons.
