Hi, I saw a Mustang over Bury St Edmunds today, about 11:30am. It was silver with a blue rudder – not one I’m familiar with – any idea which one is running these colours at the moment? It seemed to be having fun anyway, flew back a forth a few times and I wasn’t the only onlooker enjoying the sight, I’m pleased to say 🙂

Almost certainly Jumpin Jacques.
Almost certainly not Jumping Jaques….

Was a fantastic sight, 4 F15s and 2 Mustangs, and so close.

Thanks chaps, on reflection after your comments I think it was the Doll that I saw. The nose didn’t look any darker at the time but the tail is right. I did wonder if it might have been part of the Madingley goings on – weren’t there some some F-15s and things as well?
Cheers 🙂

I believe it to have been G-HAEC, Rob Davies “Big Beautiful Doll” which I saw performing a flypast at Southend Airfield at around 11am enroute to the north. I later heard it working Southend Approach returning to Headcorn (near Woodchurch where Rob’s machines are based). The callsign was slightly garbled but it was definately G-xC and a search of the UK register reveals HAEC to be the only P-51D to fit the bill. (see picture here http://www.caa.co.uk/applicationmodules/ginfo/ginfo_photo.aspx?regmark=G-HAEC&imgname=G-HAEC003&imgtype=jpg
Hope this is of some use – also my first forum post here – have been observing for some while and find this forum fascinating and most informative.
I also apologise if any of my “detective work” is wrong . . I bow to those more experienced!!
