Mustang Question ?

This may be very simple ? But I have noticed from recent photos of Mustangs, sometimes you see this part ? and sometimes you don’t ?
I assume it is something to do with cooling ?? but an educated answer would be nice ??

Thank You.

Keith.

Its the radiator coolant door, open for take off and adjustable in flight depending on temperature, usually slightly open when displaying, but not so much that you would notice it. There is a similar, but smaller door for the oil cooler in the bottom of the scoop ahead of the coolant door.

Think thats the radiator flap, so would imagine it has an auto & manual setting.

Open more at low speed, but retracted inwards at high speed when more airflow is available?
