My A-26 to Reno 2005

I’m taking my new A-26 Invader back to Reno this September. It was last there in 1968 as Race # 76 flown by John Lear [son of Bill]…….

ZRX61, thanks. Look forward to your reply.

The Invader is still painted in Air Spray yellow. We won’t change that until she comes to Oz….

Sounds good. So pray tell what is the capacity of your ferry tank?

It’s not mine, Keck had it refurbed when he had plans to take one of his A26’s to Hawaii but then his Insurance Co had a sense of humour failure & put the kybosh on that idea.
Not sure what capacity it is, but it completely fills the bomb bay…. I shall make enquiries..

Wouldn’t it be great, to see markings on it similar to the ex Dutch A-26C,S/N.44-35710 “Hard to Get!”.
Even better, what about Turret Domes/replica guns !

Will the A-26C be painted in its new scheme before it flies to Reno and Oz ?
Im sure this A-26 will be plastered on all Warbird/Vintage aircraft mags around the world !

It is not an On Mark. The colour scheme will depend in some part on what she might have looked like in the service. So far no luck in that area…

Black is pretty hot for Oz however..

OD,

I saw the picks on your post at WIX! nice solid nose “B”26C – excellent

and no radical ON-MARK” mods to my untrained eye either!!

OD,

hopefully your A26 will be staying in OZ much much longer than your B-25 did, (and it should still be here too!!)

is your A26 a solid or glass nose??, and are you planning on korean, Vietnam or late WW2 colour schemes? I cant wait to see it – if this keeps up Setter wont need to steal qny aircraft from Duxford or the US, they will already be here, and I can save on airfares to look at them. 😉

oscar duck Sounds good. So pray tell what is the capacity of your ferry tank?

My last effort at this was in 1983 when we flew my B-25 across the “peaceful” pond to Oz.

Have you got the flight back to Oz planned, should make for an interesting trip.

I know where there’s as recently refurbed bomb bay aux gastank… & there’s a brand new R2800 cylinder sat in my garage looking for a home…

So if A26’s are the twin engine version of the Unlimited class…..

…The twin engine answer to the T6 class would be B25’s …..
