dark light

My afternnon at LGW.

Hi all. Got back a about 2 hours ago… and I must say on the whole agood afternoon, with a few suprises!

Weather was good, but a little chilly. When I got there, I got talking to these two blokes, who had been there near enough the whole day. Because I have a crappy pair of Binnockies, they helpped me to get some of the reggies.

When I got there… Ihoped I would see and I did… a beautiful TCX A330… it really does look the bees knees! Very classy! G-OJMC.

Also ready for take off, were two VIR 747’s, G-VLIP “hot lips” and G-VGAL “Jersey Girl”.

Now for the suprises:

1. Z-WPE — Air Zimbabwe — 767-200ER (first time I have seen an Air Zimbabwe aircraft!)

2. SU-MWA — Midwest Airlines — A310-300 (First time of ever seeing this airline.. quite a nice livery)

3. EI-CSC — Ryanair — 737-800 (first time I’ve seen a Ryanair 800)

4. I-FLRO — Meridiana — BAe 146-200 (first time i’ve seen this airline)

5. PK-GSH — Garuda Indonesia — 747-400 (not the first time for the airline, but first time for the aircraft its self — plus Garuda is always a nice airlines to see.)

6. A6-EMU — Emirates — 777-300 (Didn’t expect this at all today.)

7. D-CVIP — WDL Aviation — LearJet 55 (Always nce to see the odd lear here and there.)

8. A6-ESH — Sharjah Ruler’s Flight — A319-100X (CJ) (Very nice to see indeed! this was the “treat” of the afternoon.)

9. I-PEKP — Volare Web — A320-200 (Again didn’t expect to see this.)

10. G-BMLC — Aurigny Air Services — Shorts 360. (Nice to see this… one of the blokes I got talking to said it was operating a Mail flight?)

11. VP-BBR — Azerbaijan Airlines — 757-200 (Another first for me)

So as you can see, a day of firsts! :p

Also, didn’t get the reg, but an Air 200 A320 was taken to the far end of the airport for engine runs.

Dan Im not sure… Never have I seen one up at LHR, but I have seen the photos. It may have been operating on behalf of someone else?

Wys, can you remember the type of tail it had…if it wasn’t one of the UK flag tails, then I would be able to identify it, because there were only a few 737’s moving around with some of the world designs on them. 🙂

Good to hear you had a good day and you certainly got some interesting stuff!

The Midwest is nice colours, I saw one at LHR a couple of years ago, have they moved the flight to LGW since?

You saw the thing we have to put up with on Inter island! Dirty aircraft, hope the second one they are leasing is nicer. Anyway, it was the mail flight from Jersey. I think this flight might be ending soon because the mail will go through shipping at Portsmouth due to increased security as every letter has to be checked. Might get a Trislander up because they woud still be doing a small bit of mail but the trouble is that they would have to re-fuel at LGW.

Good to hear you had a good day Andrew. On my trip to Italy in February, I came across some Meridiana 146s at the airport in Florence as quickly passed, on our way to Bologna.
