I never used to think much of general aviation, however i had my first flight out of NCL yesterday in a PA 28 G-BMUZ and it was absolutley amazing.
Firstly i wasnt expecting to do much on an introductory flight, but i done a 360 degree ‘rate 1 turn’ at about a 20 degree angle, which really impressed me, i kept it level too. You’re all thinking what an amateur!!
My insturctor then done a ‘rate 4/5 turn’ and that was exciting.
But my opinion has now changed, and it beats going up in a commercial liner any day.

Coming from the other end of the equation,
We have had a bunch of work experience people at Popham over the summer. Through a combination of bad luck and serviceability my aeroplane had been grounded when they were in. The one who finished today got lucky/unlucky* and I took him for twenty minutes in the Rearwin.
Hopefully I have now ruined his life and he will now be obsessed with flying. I know he had a good time and he took photos of his house.
I learned to fly when I was over thirty. Don’t leave it that long and when you have done it take kids/teenagers/neighbors/work colleagues/old phogies flying. It is fun.

Thanks guys, im going to try my best to do what you guys said and try to fly as much as possible, and when ive been up a few times i may even have a few good photographs of the beautiful views we get at NCL from the light a/c.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your flight in a Piper 28, especially as I’m having a trial lesson in one tomorrow! I have flown in a Cessna 150 before, but not yet a Warrior.

Airliners = flying cigar tubes with portholes.
If you’ve caught the flying bug I will warn you now that there is no cure for it. All you can do is treat the symtoms which means flying as often as possible – the sacrifices we make for our health eh? 😀

Yeah, what he said, absolutely.
Did four little blats around the circuit with various people in the aeroplane yesterday. Twas great fun.

And the fact is Ben, you are less than 50 hours away from being a GA pilot yourself.
Please don’t leave it as late as I did to scrape together the necessary and get your wings.
Good luck.

Got to admit the feeling when you go up in a light aircraft does beat the big 73’s 75’s etc anyday.
Best bits still gotta be the takeoff though 😀
NICE ONE BEN!

Sure does, although the downside is the lack of trolley dolly’s. 😉
Well done though, sounds like you’re hooked – now prepare to be financially crippled for the rest of your life… 😀

Excellent. It’s good innit. Well done on keeping her level through the 360. Most folk let her drop a few feet on their first attempt.
Looking at them they look really small compared to the commercial boys, but once you’re in it, up there, you fell as big as the rest of ’em.
