Today was the first time i had ever been to OW, I used to think that it wouldn’t be my thing really but i really enjoyed it. It has a superb atmosphere much better than some of the bigger shows. The flying was great and a very nice tribute to Steve Young even though some people continued talking through the minute’s silence 😡 It is easy to see why the likes of Robbo and co. like OW so much now. Here is a few pic’s from a great day.

I thought yesterday’s show was pretty smooth and high-pace. I like it the way it is, either way 🙂

I thought it was part of the charm.
The comentator, like most other people working on OW show days is a volunteer.
Worth bearing in mind when being critical.
And anyway.. there are worse, check out the commentator at Oswego NY for Jerry Billing’s Spitfire display! http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=46452

I think we all do accept that and make allowances.
The guy yesterday though appeared to be pushing the edges of the tolerance envelope at times. Towards the end I actually heard sections of the crowd barracking him.
Bring back John Blake! 🙁

But an OW show lacks the “slickness” and continuity of something like Legends (a few too many pauses in the OW programme)

My second show at OW – did the early August show last year too. Lovely venue and atmosphere… Good variety of old, rare and not quite so old (nice to see a jet and a glider too)… But an OW show lacks the “slickness” and continuity of something like Legends (a few too many pauses in the OW programme)… Oh, and by far the worst aspect of an OW show – someone PLEASE shoot that commentator and put us all out of our misery (most classic comments were when the glider was on, commentator saying how peaceful and quiet is was – well it would have been if he hadn’t kept blubbering on!).

As this thread has some discussion I have copied it to the new photographic section rather than moving it entirely

Hi
Being an OW “groupie” I completely agree with James here – There is nowhere anywhere in the world like OW.

whilst i was a little disappointed by the limited programme I really enjoyed the show.
?!? I think I know where you are coming from, but how many completely unique aircraft do you want, and how close? Of 92fs’s photos each aaircraft is in some manner unique – there are other Spitfires flying, but AR501’s history puts it in a league of its own, and likewise the Sea Fury has compatriots but as a stock Royal Navy machine in the air it is unique. Many of the others are sole airworthy examples. Yes, we can nitpick in either direction, but I’d be interested defining ‘limited’ in this context.
Try getting other venues to recognise the loss of a crowd member and helper in the way Steve was recognised by OW…
I think 92fis photos and comments sum up OW very well. Thanks for sharing, great pics!
