“As any one of Trenchard’s little b******s will tell you ALWAYS CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
In 1988, one of the lads in the barracks (Military Police type) was throwing a nice portable component stereo set out (the speakers, tape deck, and receiver were all separate parts, but hooked together with a carry handle).
I (being an avionics type) asked him what was wrong with it. He said “It won’t even turn on!”, so I asked could I have it. He said sure, I took it home, removed the cover, removed the 1/2 inch of dust, replaced the 2 blown fuses, and had a great stereo for several more years… then gave it to a civvie friend who is still using it!!
Jon H, I graduated from high school and started in University in 1980… 😀

WV838, you think you’ve got problems – I had a little tinker with my VCR only to find out it was the fuse :p

Well pop in some time and I’ll treat you to a genuine 4-star marriott coffee 😀
Thanks TT – sadly this one will only fly in a virtual sense, but that is better than its current condition!
Roy.
I will do as it has been a while since i was last at the old airport – my parents took me there to see a USAF Galaxy (pretty sure it was anyway!) in the early 80’s! 😀

Simple – didn’t know they were there! If Speke Boulevard went round the other side of the old airport then would have been in with a shout! 😀

Well was South Liverpool until about 2 years ago – now based Liverpool side of Warrington. So not exactly a million miles away 🙂

Roy,
How about a ‘pit to put the stuff into ?
http://www.gjdservices.co.uk/html/sales.html
Only £950.
Cheers Dave, I’ve been offered similar for half that price but sadly, this would make the project too big. 🙁

Doesn’t look like one of those ex-FAA Seahawks
Sea Hawks are a hobby, the HS-125 is my day job :diablo:

The parts are indeed from an HS-125 – well spotted!
I will have the full story behind these parts in a week or so when I get to talk with the guy who removed them from the aircraft.
The parts will be used as the basis for a flight simulator designed for procedural and navigational training. Not as exciting or as rewarding as an old warbird but enormous fun nonetheless – especially when you are being paid to do it!
Still need loads of parts like an overhead panel – if you can help, please do let me know.
Roy.

See I told you civil airliners were not my thing…..
Must admit didn’t realise the 125 had ‘Rams Horn’ type column tops. Certainly makes for a different starting point of a cockpit restoration – most of the bits on the inside but without the aluminium wrapper.
All the best with this one Roy

Close – those are 125 columns. Any idea where they came from Roy?

Although Civil Airliners are not my thing, is it a ‘Grow Your own Trident’ kit ?:D
