Dez, thanks for the complement on the model, i try to find different markings than those in the kit, sometimes VERY different 😉 . i have a spare hurricane that is going to be in russian marks as one with 2 seats and a rear gun. (yes it did exist, i’ll try and dig out the pic.)

Best value are definately the Corgi Aviation Archive collection. Also their models are in 1/72nd and 1/144th scales so are compatible with plastic kit models. Their range is well researched and covers all eras with prices to suit all pockets. Other companies often produce models in odd scales and are usually far more expensive. I personally know Corgi’s researcher than initiates many of their models! 😉

Wheres Twilight Tear then!!!! :p 😀

Certainly would agree with Albert on this one. Best value by far!

Not far behind them would be Dragon Wings who have just released a 1:72 scale model of Black 6 !

1:72 Scale gives you the most choice! Anything they don’t build but you fancy you can make. I have a couple of ‘airfix’ type kits accompanying my collection.

Be warned tho…it is very addictive! 😮

Landyman… Lovely model, nice to see the less common markings on models!

The main one is Corgi, but there are other companies producing them all the time.
Best thing to do is once decided on a aircraft, look round at the different ones ands decide for yourself which ones you find more pleasing.

Most of the aviation magazines carry adverts for the main suppliers.

I am thinking about starting a collection of diecast planes, what brands would one suggest are the better ones to look out for?

for a very different lanc model you could try a grand slam aircraft with the 10 ton bomb and no mid or forward turrets, a lancastrian with NO turrets and all silver colour or an air sea rescue aircraft with the air dropable boat slung underneath.
hope this helps.

I may be daft, but I’m not that easily drawn in. Let’s just say that it was, after all, a black labrador!

I think adwwebber means ‘G-George, Gibson’s mount for the raid’. Perhaps we should club together and buy him a copy of ‘Eats, Shoots and Leaves’ 😉

What was the name of the dog of Gibson who dies (smashed by a car) before the raid? I forgot his name….

Sorry about that. I did misread it and genuinely thought you had got Gibson’s name wrong, which would, of course, be sacrilege! Looking at it now, it seems obvious what you meant. No deliberate sarcasm meant. It does, however, highlight how useful punctuation is, a lack of which most online forums suffer from.

oh very funny! I forgot to punctuate.
I apologise and i did indeed mean G-George, Gibsons mount.

Eats, shoots and leaves ? isn’t that an over sexed Panda ?
No i would’nt expect to them to make any other, after all it must be the most famous Lanc.

looks like the upkeep conversion to me, and wasn’t G George Gibsons mount for the raid ?

I presume you mean Guy Gibson? 😮 AJ-G was indeed Gibson’s mount for 16/17 May 1943.

And would you seriously expect any manufacturer making a model Dambuster Lanc to make anything other than Gibson’s personal aircraft?

Nope. GR8 is a Harrier or somesuch, that’s definitely a Lancaster. 😉

Is it the ‘Upkeep’ (Dambuster) conversion?

Hmmmm, no mid upper turret? Can anyone tell me which variant this was ? I have just started building a 90″ span RC flying model and I am looking for something a little unusual to base it on.
