RE: my new web site. Please visit

welcome class to the rabie web tutorial 😀 😀 😀 😀

i use a lot callled free net name that gave me a .co.uk adress , and 20mb. all i do i use them as my isp when i update my site (costs are local rate). unfortuntely this deal was too good and they stopped offering it about a year ago. this is great as there are no add at all on my site.

i think there is another lot offering free .co.uk addresses but you get a bar across the top.

i use freeserve as my main isp and they give 30mb and i’m using this to extend my .co.uk site.

for a smaller site yahoo is IMHO the best as you get 5mb a simple URl (www.geocities.com/youryahooemailadress) , and this can be used very simpley (no messing with FTP like i do). have a look at http://www.geocities.com/skythe_99/ for a perfet example.

for making the site i use dreamweaver which is very good but could be dificult to use. word is really awkward but i think frontpage express was the simplest and good. i’m not a frontapage person (tried once) but a lot of people use it.

philo will have to set up photo galleries properly and i’m not a real expert at that but with iages you need peole yo see previwes before they click on the big one of that aircraft. probalbe quite simple to do though i’ve not tried.

any questions just ask

RE: my new web site. Please visit

Nice site, love the Stearman(s), is the plural Stearmen ?.
I have some nice pics from the Shuttleworth meeting last year, i think there were 8 or 9 examples there including most of those on your site.
I am going to develop and hopefully launcj my own site soon, therefore will be glad of any tips such as developer sofware, hosts , costs, sever space etc.
Phil.

RE: my new web site. Please visit

vice versa here. i’ve been runing my motobike club’s website since march 2000 and had been lanning it on and off since autumn 1999. i self taught my self it all and started off with word 1997. i progressed to word 2000, frontpage express and now i’m on dreamweaver. my site is quite big now and i would say i know quite a bit but there is still miles to go.

what i’ve found is that pictures of big files size take a long time to download and can make the veiwer unitrested and bored. however you can still get your image across to the visiter by shriking the quality slighty. i use the program i got with my scanner but i suspose other must do this. all i do is reduce the “size” number down and the file size of the pic decreases, and if you guess the right number the quality stays preety good as well. this way the pic downlaods to the viewer quickly and they see what was origional intened.

the above looks and sounds complicated but is really simple.

if you want to do it but can’t yourself i’ll have a go if you want.

conversly i wouldn’t ahve the first idea about rebuilding planes so don’t worry.

RE: my new web site. Please visit

nice site.

the only thing i’ld change would be the image file sizes as IMHO a little too long to download, so the vewer could if on a dial up conection spend a time waiting for the pics before moving on which probable looses their intrest.

good site though , keep up the good work
