Just found my old ATC 3822 in the loft and I thought I’d share the contents of the flying log book. It really wasn’t that long ago, but every aircraft I’ve flown in (with the RAF) seems to have retired….. Some have made it into pastures new, such as Chipmunks WZ878 and WK517, but where are the others?…..(edit – thanks to DB, the RAF types are sorted and all survive in private hands bar the VC10 which was scrapped)
I still cannot trace the T6G which was in Canadian Navy colours, coded 92… any ideas? (edit – found via RMR)

XX619 & XX624 both ex Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron

Looking at the formation photo for the first time in many years, it would appear that XX619 had the underwing serial applied incorrectly as ‘XX916’, never noticed that before!

I have some slides, I will just have to find the right box and scan them in. It might take a day or two.

As an addition to this thread, having never been in the ATC, my non-scheduled “pleasure” flights are a slightly different mix of aircraft:-

I would hazard a guess that the Intra DC 3 was MHJ. I also flew on this in 1975, it was an Ian Allan organised trip from Gatwick to Tower Bridge and back. Great memories of the starboard engine producing a great sheet of flame on start up and everything vibrating like crazy, but a great trip and embedded in my memory for ever!!
MHJ sounds about right. The main thing I remember of the day was waiting for about 6 hours at Gatwick for the fog to lift, We finally got airborne in the dark. Then it was a 5 hour drive home.

A quick search on Demobbed under Chipmunk should get you the answers you require . You seem quite enterprising in some of the ‘RAF’ types in your 3822 !!
By: Banupa - 27th July 2011 at 17:54
These were my ATC Cadet flights in 1960-1962 :
WP981 Chipmunk White Waltham
XF565 Provost Little Rissington
WG480 Chipmunk Little Rissington
WJ890 Varsity Manby
WP870 Chipmunk Manby
VW197 Valetta Manby
WV736 Pembroke Northolt
VV306 Anson Cottesmore
I bet none of those survive
