My trip to Egypt

I had gone to Egypt before, but I had the opportunity of flying again there after a short break in Milan. And it´s always a pleasure. Last time I was on Egyptair all the way, and this time I had booked all flights on Spanair which is quite safe. On the airport I found a TU204, although I was scared at the first moment, the flight from MAD-LUXOR, LUXOR-MADRID were really smooth, the plane quite silent and the pitch great. The food was superb. I even think more confortable and stable than a B757. I know it´s not as technically as advanced as the american model, but I quite enjoyed the flight. On a domestic sector I flew something called Air Luxor MD83 supposely new and modern, but on the flight I was reading an aviation magazine while flying to Abu Simbel on a 15 minutes hop, that the airline had been banned in France for a terrible dangerous approach at Nantes…funny eh. Fortunately it was on the flight back…..but I wasn´t amused.

Keltic, what was the registration of your Luxor MD? I took this photo of SU-BMF in July last year… nice to see they’ve got a livery now…

Keltic, the TU204 with Rolls Royce engines have Western avionics.
You probably flew a TU204-120 or 220.

When I last flew a Tupolev was on a CSA TU154 and it looked odd inside. No racks, strange seats, old fashioned interiors, but this time once inside it was hard to say one was travelling on a Tupolev. On the contrary, it was so smooth and the noise of the engines was the typical Rolls Royce whispering sounds. Racks were a bit smaller, but that gave the plane a widder look and sensation. Lots of open spaces, hugggeeeee pitch and spacious toilets. Really nice. It was a pity I wasn´t allow to get into the cockpit.

Nice little report Keltic. Very Lucky to have had an experience on the TU-204, which in my opinion is one of the best looking aircraft around today. 😎
