But to address the ‘salient’ point, yes those must be ghost planes, I’m sure I read about them in Witch Magazine once, BA and other LHR operators fly them around empty all the time to keep their landing slots secure during quiet “spells”. Apparently ‘Spirit’ Airlines do the same…;)

Now then, who would like to look on Goulie Earth for the half airliner landing at Schipol near the Poltergeist…sorry Polderbaan.:diablo:

If anyone cares enough, the “clue” mentioned at the end of the video is text that appears in faint white writing when the image of the planes is shown. I found it impossible to read, but somebody else might be able to.

I did a bit of checking and found out that the LHR image was taken on 29/01/06, then checked historical weather conditions and the temperature overnight was 0C with no precipitation on that day or the previous day.
Going by the length of the shadows, it looks like a very early morning shot, so I think it is de-icer fluid.

FYI, the image was taken by Bluesky

Yes, I am sure there are better things I could be doing! 😀

Either de-icer or condensation that had run off the aircraft?

Cheers, Huw:)

I think the water theory explains the two on the outside and the one in the middle to a certain extent. But the one in the middle certainly has something else going on too. Twas why I suggested the multiple exosure thing.

DavidS is correct. Go and sit in a car park after a shower on a warm day and you will see this a lot. You often see the reverse as well, when the ground under the vehicle is dry when it pulls off and all around it is wet. It really is very common
