I picked this item up in a wood about 5 months ago near to where I discovered a crashed WW2 Spitfire. As it is marked with the AM and crown of the Air Ministry could it be off the Spitfire what it is ?. It is 37mm in diameter 22 cm’s long . I think it could to be made of Carbon.

Many thanks for the replies about the mystery Air Ministry object.
I have look online at images of carbon rods used on a WW2 anti aircraft search light . I can’t find any that are exactly the same but some are very similar.
