Mystery aircraft, 1950s East Anglia

John Robert ‘Jack’ Symonds, of Potters Bar, Dereham, died at 88 of pneumonia and heart disease at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

…. He was even interviewed by MI5 around 1954 after he took a picture of a plane landing on a beach near Trimingham.

“After he took the picture these guys came over and arrested him because the plane was connected with the secret service.

“Luckily he had stuffed the plates down his socks and as they seized his camera and took him away he said he needed the toilet and popped into a house.

Ideas anybody?

Probably for being capable of time travel, the Queen Bee was retired eight years before this event!
The article looks like a work on confused memory to me, and if did get to smuggle away his plates I assume the pictures survive somewhere?

Hence the brackets and question mark ! Muckleburgh was still open when this happened though…..

Taking plate film out of a camera and stuffing it down his socks sounds like the stuff of a Monty Python sketch??!!

Check your local UFO group… they probably have copies (or at least “photos” they claim are copies)!

An aerial target ( Queen Bee ? ) out of nearby Muckleburgh AA Camp ?

Why would anyone be arrested for seeing a Queen Bee?

Two thoughts spring to mind:

Trimmingham is a radar site, so could it have been a calibration aircraft of some type, possibly with transmitters/sensors on board.

Or

An aerial target ( Queen Bee ? ) out of nearby Muckleburgh AA Camp ?
