Mystery aircraft

Does anyone know what aircraft this is a model of? It clearly was never built, but if a model was made then it would suggest that the design reached a fairly advanced stage, so I hope someone might recognise it.

As a twin-hulled, six-engined contra-rotating propeller design it seems pretty distinctive and any info would be most welcome.
