“Wings For Victory Week” was a national fund raising event held in the UK from March 1943.
Each county in Britain was set a target for the amount of money they should raise in order to contribute to the cost of an aircraft in support of the War effort. In turn, each aircraft would be named after the town or county which raised sufficient money.
Can anyone positively identify this particular aircraft please ? It was one of 4 aircraft on display in the centre of Manchester during that week – including 2 Avro Lancaster Bombers, one of which was B.1 ‘ED749’ (nearest camera).

Since the evenhanded to be a War bond fund raiser, I would suspect it would be an RAF aircraft, so it would be a Mustang not a P-51.
