She was lovely… had flown in a Rapide before but she was something else… Lovely side slip into Waterford looking out the window at the runway lights.
Her future is a bit obscure at the moment after Aer Lingus had their money troubles… Aparently she sits in the back of a hangar awaiting whatever the future holds… Thanks to JJ and her regular attendance at the VAC/CAACI Anglo-Irish fly-ins Mum, Dad and my two siblings have all flown in her at one time or another…

Mate of mine has just got back from NZ where he had a flight in a Dragonfly…

I’d have to make sure I wasn’t arm waving as I think the Orange would clash wickedly with the yellow!!! Would be nice to get flown again…
Haven’t been up since ’01 (flew over Silverstone on GP weekend out of TW in a Robin and before that ’98 Iolar – EI-ABI – at Waterford… – I suddenly feel depressed!!)
Time to pester some people and call in a few promises…

Yes, the Hawk (Magister!) is amazing.

True… Don’t ask don’t get and worst he can say is no…

If the Oxford turns out as good as the Hawk… The finish apears to be better than new.

Andy’s got (IIRC) 15 months on the Oxford, as the ‘current’ task. Roger Wallsgrove and I hope to document the process.

I’m sure if you ask HP nicely, he’d be delighted to give you a ride. He’s even flown MOTF (and I’m on a promise – I doubt I’ll look as comfortable then…)

Never sat in one but have swung Hairyplane’s a couple of times… Closest I suppose I’ll get.
You’re quite right about the standard of work that they have carried out on both aircraft. What will they be working their magic on next do you know??

Both conserved by Andy (and team) at Duxford.

While it is arguable that both should be flying, the just-finished Miles Hawk trainer (technically NOT a Magister, as it was built as a civil a/c, thus a Hawk) it is now the most authentic and accurate of the world’s Miles Hawk / Magister aircraft. The flying machines (very very lovely) have minor changes for modern airworthiness requirements (quite right and proper) and the other grounded machines are not in anything like as good a nick. It’s an amazing aircraft, and thanks to Andy I got some hangar flying:
