Mystery control wheel

Mystery part quiz.

This is a Canadian-found control wheel. I’ve been asked to see if anyone might be able to ID it. The info we have is:

The lady who has contacted us has this item and forwarded two photos of it which I’ve attached to this e-mail. Apparently her father told her it came from an old aircraft. A search through our library and archives produced no clue as to its origin – of course our materials are more or less limited to the WWII era. We try to answer all inquiries like this if at all possible.

According to the inquirer, the wheel is apparently made of aluminium or an alloy and has the following numbers inscribed on it.
2
11/29 – 10
7596
P.S. My first thought was that it resembled the steering wheel from an old farm tractor – but most of them were made cast-iron or some other iron alloy not from aluminium.

It doesn’t look like any kind of WW II vintage control wheel, but maybe it could be a TRIM control wheel from something big and ancient, like a Stranraer or an early WW II bomber?? Trim wheels are often knurled, for a better grip, but not necessarily so with older aircraft.

Otherwise, I might suggest some large WW I aircraft or perhaps even an airship??

I wonder if “11/29 – 10” is a part number or a casting date?

I would be thinking 1920’s Fokker trimotor or something along those lines.
