Hi all;
Just wondered if anyone might be able to identify these couple of pieces from a “mystery flying boat float part”. I’m only looking for the type if possible.
The whole float used to be displayed at the Rebel Air Museum, but when space became an issue, it was put into store. Whilst on display, it was never identified although there are more than enough stamped numbers and marks. The float remained in store for several years at a museum members house, and numerous attempts were made to find the float a new home. Unfortunately, nobody wanted it, and it was broken up a few years back.
The float was around 10 to 12 feet long (from memory) and of wood construction, which appeared to be mahogany. A section had been removed from the top as it appeared a previous owner had obviously attempted to convert it into a boat.
This attachment point is all that remains now….and I hope that someone might be able to identify the type from the photographs below.
Thanks in advance….
Steve
