Ha sanyone else watched the opening titles of scrapheap challenge and wondered what the heli is. To give a brief decription it is very large and appers to have a gas turbine on each side, the rotor appears to be two bladed. i am on about the Uk version of scrapheap. Any suggestions…

Its the Hughes XH17… an early attempt at a flying crane…
Originally a Kellet design it passed to Hughes in 1947… The machine was a bit of an oddity with the cockpit from a Waco CG15, Mitchell and C54 wheels and 2x J35 jet engines supplying bleed air to the rotor head…
