Mystery Heron

I have come across the photograph below of a Heron 1 but the only marks on it are EJM. It is possible to see G- very faintly in front of the EJM.

Has anyone any idea which particular Heron this was? I have not been able to discover any serial or owner which ties in with EJM.

It is quite common in NZ and perfectly legal to only display the last three letters of the serial. They must not fly outside NZ like that I understand, although I have seen a NZ aircraft without the country code part in Oz.

They like doing that in New Zealand for some reason.

To add to that,

c/n 14005 new as LN-SUD then to G-AOZN then 9L-LAL then ZK-EJM. The aircraft was seriously damaged while landing at Ardmore 09/05/77 and written of. Cant explain why it’s not showing the full reg though – thats if it is this aircraft?

You are right, David. I thought of NZ but the book I checked with was published before it became ZK-EJM. What a twit!!!

Many thanks,
